Brief

Sorry, I didn’t had the chance to put it here but it will follow, promised!

Solution

I focused on the part of receiving search results and then interact with them to intuitively find the best match for a search query. Finding the balance between useful information for a search result and the ability to display a fair amount of different results was my first objective. Sophisticated filter mechanisms based on meta information of every search result allow the user to in- or exclude unrelated result from the list of results. The GUI is clean and free from distractions that do not hold information. Every text-based information is written within rethoric context to create a user-friendly and compelling experience while using the interface.

Sorry, I didn’t had the chance to put it here but it will follow, promised!

Solution

I developed an interactive map that will be included in the official website of the Cumulus08 website. The map is built in flash and allows the user to easily navigate and explore the city of Zürich. We integrated several sights for people visiting Zürich for the first time as well as for visitors that know all the most known builings. The spots are marked on the map and can be explored by user-interactions. The builidings are lovely illustrated by students from the scientific visualization course.

Brief

Sorry, I didn’t had the chance to put it here but it will follow, promised!

Solution

My solution is based on a radial-organized Structure of the data. A circle representing a package is divided in the subpackages or classes it contains. The methods are attached to the classes they belong to at the periphery of the circle. The angle of a method is generated by the number of lines of code relative to the number of lines of code of the class. It’s cyclomatic complexity is represented by it’s radius and when the cc is reaching a critical level the color turns to red. Calls from one method to another are represented by the lines inside the element. Caller and callee can be identified by the color gradient from green to blue. Appart from the direct interaction with the visualization the interface provides several mechanisms to filter the visualization and receive more detailed information.

Brief

Sorry, I didn’t had the chance to put it here but it will follow, promised!

Solution

I took the departure timetable as my data source and wanted to create a live visualization of all the trains leaving Zürich mainstation. The clock with it’s clockwise rotation was the inspiration for the visualization and resulted in the spiral structure the traces of the trains. Everytime a train reaches a station it’s name appears on the screen. Interactions provide the possibilities to rotate and zoom the visualization.
