Ben Terrett over at noisydecentgraphics has written an excellent post about “his internet”. While he already covers a lot of the essentials of MY internet too, there remain some fundamentals uncovered. Furthermore mine has some tiny variations based on usability, simlicity and personal interest.

First why not start by reading Ben’s version? Then come back and see my Top 10:

  1. My internet uses Flash sometimes to display data in an interactive manner – say for information visualization for example.
  2. My internet preferes clarity over visual richness.
  3. My internet doesn’t try to print background images or colors.
  4. But my internet prints out the href after the text of the link. Maybe in nice brackets?
  5. My internet likes convention better than configuration.
  6. My internet knows what it’s saying to me (read: his words are marked up sematically correct)
  7. My internet knows that a required field is empty before I try to submit a form.
  8. My internet serves me with my own data the way I want it to. “Can I have a XML-bag for this to take it with me?”
  9. My internet talks the language of my desktop computer as well as the one of my mobile and it syncronizes data nicely.
  10. My internet knows everything about me that I want it to know and it doesn’t gossip about me with others.
